An interesting change of a painting’s direction – my then 12 year old daughter spray painted this backdrop for me with the only guidance that it be in black/blue hues.
When she had finished with it, it had a melancholy Gothic air. We discussed what could then happen to it – I wanted red poppy like flowers on the dripped paint stalks, she wanted a lightning sky. The ghost-like figure was to become a Lightning Princess with her wardrobe and hair described in exact fashion detail.
The painting changed so much in feel, let alone look and it also had a couple of alternative titles – an Italian version of the English current one – Signora Fulmini Nel Giardino Del Papavero Con La Luna – and at the last minute, it was known as Madame Van De Graaf With Poppies And The Moon.
